It's about children. It's about hearing for a lifetime.
Today's tech-connected kids live in a high-def world. They experience Blu-ray, surround-sound, life-like computer graphics and 3-D movies. They are bombarded by sound from television, toys, game consoles, music players and in-vehicle entertainment systems.
ETY•Kids safe-listening earphones are engineered for safe sound output while maintaining Etymotic's exceptional sound quality. By controlling earphone sensitivity, it is not necessary to restrict the volume setting on the player.
Sound heard through ETY•Kids earphones will not exceed safe levels, so parents can rest easy. Even at the maximum volume setting on portable players, kids can listen safely for up to four hours per day. And because ETY•Kids earphones block background noise, and provide high-definition sound quality, kids will be able to hear every detail, and won't complain that the volume is too low.
Features
*Assuming 4 hours or less per day listening at full volume.
What can parents do?
Parents choose gear for young children. Many parents understand the importance of limiting sound levels and exposure time, but most are unsure how to manage their kids’ listening. While children are young, one thing parents can influence is the kind of earphones kids use with their portable players. Stock earbuds supplied with portable devices can produce damaging levels of sound.
The main reason listeners of all ages turn up the volume is to block out distracting background noise. ETY•Kids earphones seal the ears so volume levels stay safer. With an adequate seal plus the safe sound output of ETY•Kids earphones, parents are assured their kids are listening safely.

Etymotic Research, makers of high-fidelity personal audio products and a family of hearing health products, announces the signing of Hu the Owl, the group’s leader and songwriter, as an artist endorser. Under the terms of the deal, Hu (a dedicated user of Etymotic ETY•Kids Safe Listening Earphones and ETY•Plugs sound filtering earplugs) will wear ETY•Kids T-shirt on stage and during press and publicity events.
A free copy of Hu's Hoo and The Zoo is sent on request with all models of ETY•Kids. When purchasing ETYKids, be sure to select the item that includes this delightful book and music CD.
“Every kid should have a pair of ETY•Kids,” said Hu in an official statement. I use them on stage as in-ear monitors, I hook them up to my music devices for listening at home and on the road, and I wear my ETYPlugs in loud situations. I love his music, but there’s no way I’m ending up like that poor guy from The Who...” said Hu.
Who’s Hu?
Hu’s Hoo & The Zoo is a five-member singing group who perform original music in a variety of styles including rock, pop, country, Latin and R&B. The band’s members are:
Hu the Owl - Hu is an Asian Brown Owl, now living
in Brooklyn, New York. He’s the band’s leader and co-writes their music
with the songwriting team of Kornfeld & Cobert. Hu is known for his
good habits and conduct, though he has an outsized affection for
Halloween and an issue with vegetables. Still, all who know him describe
him as “wise.”
Juana the Iguana – Juana is originally from Puerto
Rico, but now lives in Manhattan’s Soho district. She is known for her
sweet tooth, enjoys traveling to London for the Wimbledon Championships
and has sung back up for both English and Latin acts. Those who know her
describe her as “saucy.”
Ali the Cat – Ali is a little bit country, a little
bit rock ‘n’ roll. As comfortable in a gown as in jeans, she also
considers herself to be a fashion queen, not needing a special occasion
to dress up. Ali lives with her parents in Westchester, New York but her
heart is in Nashville. Friends describe her as “cool.”
Roscoe the Chocolate Lab – Roscoe is a retriever
who knows how to bring home a vocal. Originally from Chicago’s south
side, Roscoe makes his home in the Harlem section of Manhattan. A
regular at Zabar’s cheese counter, Roscoe is everybody’s “best friend.”
Stokely the California Squirrel Dude – Stokely is a
transplant to New York’s Greenwich Village, having moved there from
Huntington Beach, California. Now taking saxophone lessons after
recently getting his braces off, Stokely is known for being a little bit
“nuts.”
Hendricks the Hamster - Hendricks met the band in a
Brooklyn recording studio while working with another act and
immediately signed on as the Zoo’s manager. He’s the cousin of Spinal
Tap’s manager Ian Faith, and highly experienced in working with animals.
Those who know him describe him as “cheeky.”
Bunny the PA – Bunny is without doubt, the brains
of the operation. Always connected, always professional, Bunny is the
ultimate personal assistant. She keeps Hendricks focused and handles all
of the details. Never seen without her ETY•COM headset, and always on
the go, Bunny is a “hopper.”
Flagle – Flagle is Hu’s old friend from school and
means well, but somehow always gets it wrong. He works hard, and as the
band’s roadie, ticket-taker and sometimes- sound engineer is very much a
part of the group. But, everyone who has ever met Flagle describes him
as “trouble.”
